Visual aspect

Elisa is the youngest of the family, 6 years younger than René, being between 16 and 20 years old. She is a little taller than René but only by a couple of inches. In addition, her body is rather less bulky, not being slim, but much less pronounced than her older brother. She has certain masculine features such as broad shoulders, and similar sized hips and waist.

Her hair is auburn to reddish-brown, although it is rather coppery if the sun doesn’t shine on it. It is mostly tied back, although it does not reach past her shoulders when loose. She has thin eyebrows and short eyelashes. Her eyes are turquoise blue, quite clear and usually quite wide open. It is very characteristic that you can tell by looking into her eyes what Elisa is thinking.

Her nose is thin and rounded, with a standard length. She has a broad laugh, with which she usually shows her white teeth, somewhat darkened by the dirt of the countryside. She has a very particular smile, which she usually wears at awkward moments, in which she raises one end of the corner of her lips (Image 1). Her jaw is wide, although her chin is narrow. Her arms are slightly thinner, adapting better to her body. Her back is a little broad and the size of her breasts is small. Her legs are wider than would be expected for someone of her build. Her butt is not very voluminous either.

The style of clothing she wears is a very light one that allows her to move around a lot without bothering her. She wears a white tank top with several patches of different types of oil on it. On top of this she wears a beige jumpsuit, which acts as shorts (she wears them up to mid-thigh). The overalls have small holes in the belly area due to the steam burns from the workshop. Her footwear is a pair of dark-coloured boots, similar to hiking boots.

It is very characteristic that she wears his black gloves, with small red threads that reach her fingers. Another object she is often seen with is a charcoal pencil from the mines and paper that the mechanic gives her for orders and which she usually recycles, on which she usually writes down her ideas, draws the landscape or makes sketches of some machine she wants to make with her brother. Finally, she shares René’s penchant for collecting copper chips from the workshop in a small bag, so she always carries some in the middle pocket of her overalls.

Personality and Story

Her personality could be defined as quite mature for her age. She is cheerful and friendly with almost everyone and most of her neighbours tend to be quite nice to her. Her attitude towards problems is positive and carefree, always trying to cheer up those around her.

However, in spite of her correct composure with others, she is very distrustful. She rarely meets anyone except out of necessity or obligation. She prefers to be alone or with her brother René playing. Her treatment with the rest of her family is correct, but there is no comparison with that of her brother.

One of her greatest hobbies is taking walks in the forest that separates Dowtik from the coast. She likes to walk alone until it gets dark, returning home only so as not to worry her brother.

She is quite intelligent and this prompted the Altik mechanic to take her on as an assistant, giving her his trademark overalls and allowing her brother to help out in the workshop as well. She is the only source of income the Wells family has that is not related to farming and ranching.

The first few months she worked with the mechanic, she got a discount on the glasses she bought for her brother. She did this by going secretly and even sneaking out of the house a few times without telling anyone. When René found out, he was upset with her for her escapades, but when he saw why she did it, he felt bad and forgave her. However, his mother was very upset about the money they had spent on something “unnecessary”.

Her father died when she was a baby of a few months so she does not feel any affection or emotion towards him. However, this fact made her very close to her brother René, since, while her mother took care of her twin brothers, René took care of her.

When they were little, René and Elisa invented a code with symbols that they wrote and only understood each other. Today, they sometimes use this code to communicate in situations of tension or danger, or simply to tease whoever is with them.

Some of her concepts of reality are wrong and she does not give them the importance they deserve (both giving more and giving less) as the model was the concepts of a child of about 10/12 years old. For her, some of her principles are to be polite to people, to finish something you start (even if you don’t like it) and laugh whenever you can. These principles have been shaped over the years and the experiences she has had with different people.

Finally, she has a very characteristic tick, which both her brother and the mechanic often laugh at, and that is that when she concentrates, she tends to stick out her tongue upwards. It is also very common for her to bite her nails if she is not wearing gloves.

Skills

Elisa possesses no useful combat skills. Neither has ever wielded a sword or knife, and the axe at home was too heavy to use. Once she was strong enough, her interest shifted to steam machines. Nevertheless, it is fast and slippery. In addition, she knows the whole forest area almost by heart from her walks in the forest.
Also, as mentioned above, she is intelligent and often very witty and improvises quite well. Her drawings are quite metaphorical, although her brother always ends up finding out what they mean.

Context

This character is one of the many created for a VR steampunk RPG where I was responsible for the narrative design. She is the player’s sister and was designed to serve as a counterbalance to their wild personality.
